Glacier National Park - Hotel Lobby

Glacier National Park Montana is known as "The Crown of the Continent" with good reason. Located in northwest Montana, Glacier Park offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, as well as some of the best wildlife viewing and hiking opportunities found anywhere in North America.

Known as "The Big Tree Lodge", the Glacier Park Lodge in Glacier National Park was built in 1913 by Louis Hill, owner of the Great Northern Railway.  The grand lobby is supported by pillars made from huge Douglas fir trees. On the grounds is a flower garden that begins outside the Glacier Park Lodge entrance, and it sprawls practically to the train depot, several hundred yards to the east. This train depot was the first stop for nearly all the visitors in the early 1900's, and the train still brings many visitors from around the country to Glacier National Park.
