Fishing Charter and Sightseeing Boats

Pier 5, at the northern end of Bayfront Park, on Biscayne Bay, was a large tourist attraction in the 1950's.
Fleets of charter boats set sail daily and locals came to buy fresh fish when they returned.

Some of the Pier Five Captains became famous for innovations in sport fishing and for their advancements in techniques and equipment.

I remember it from my very earliest childhood. I think it was already gone by the mid 1960's. You could buy today's catch at the dockside. The fish would not be filleted ... but you could bring it to fish dept. at Publix market and they would do it free of charge!
