The heyday of large-letter postcards was the 1930s through the 1950s, which is considered the linen era among postcard collectors for the profusion of textured-paper postcards printed during those decades. Prominent printers of that era include Curt Teich & Co. of Chicago, Tichnor Brothers of Boston, and E.C. Kropp of Milwaukee. The souvenir postcards printed by these companies and others usually trumpeted the virtues of states, cities, military bases, and tourist attractions, including national and state parks. Often topped by the words “Greetings From,” the cards are recognizable for their blocky, 3-D letters packed with illustrations or photographs of scenic local sights.
